Collections on my Delinquent Student Loan

I just discovered OPPT in the past week or so. Still trying to feel into it, reading a lot. Trying to believe its all true. Want to believe it...

Coincidentally, or not, I also just received notification from a collections agency calling themselves the OKLAHOMA COLLEGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (btw, who are they assisting???) that my account is delinquent. I really want to try out the CN on this but it feels HUGELY scarey to consider. I have not made a decision to send a CN at this point as I am still too much on the fence, not trusting, but I suppose I'll start this process with the following. Please feel free to offer guidance, suggestions, etc.

Here is the text of what they sent to me in an email the other day, including a bunch of "small print" at the bottom:

As guarantor of your student loan, we’ve been notified by your lender that your loan is delinquent. Immediate action is necessary to bring your loan current.

If you allow your delinquent loans to default, you risk:

Additional collection cost up to 19% - - that’s an extra $1,900 on a $10,000 balance.
Wage garnishment.
Defaulted credit bureau rating.
State and IRS tax offset.
Please contact your lender immediately to make payments to bring your loan current. If you are unable to make payments, you may have other options, like deferment or forbearance, but you must communicate with your lender to determine if you are eligible.

One big question I have, especially relating to my very big student loan, is: If I were to go ahead with sending a CN, provided I could figure out who to send it to, what kind of protection do I have? I mean, I understand that there are a lot of charges that I could "say" they owe me if they enter into the contract with me, but who will enforce that? I can imagine someone on the other end responding by saying:
a.) Wow! I better just cancel this debt and let this guy go free!" OR
b.) What a joke. I'm not going to pay this guy any of those charges. And I'm going to get the court system to jump his ass because they are more likely to stand my me (Respondent) than him (Proponent). ...that's the scenerio I'm afraid of.

The Courtesy Notice is not about making anyone pay you fees or even "canceling" your "debt". Ideally, you do not ever want anyone to pay you (if it goes as far as invoicing, you want them to request the waiver). And if you are in the frame of mind that you still have a "debt" that you would like someone to "cancel" for you, then, frankly, you are not ready to use the Courtesy Notice.

The Courtesy Notice is primarily an educational tool to share the achievement of OPPT with your fellow man who is still (like most of us, even those of us who know about OPPT) entrenched in the Slavery System.

I guess what I was getting at had to do with whether I, by beginning this process, would be puttin in danger of say, going to jail, etc. I read an article about some guy who is in jail for 27 years for following OPPT guidelines. Is that true?

freeman, you have to read the Courtesy Notice yourself, understand what it takes for a person in the Slavery System to "go to jail," and decide for yourself whether sending a Courtesy Notice to someone (as one individual to another individual) fits the description of something that would lead to arrest and jailing.

As for Patrick Cody Martin, it is highly unlikely that he "followed OPPT guidelines," and even if he did, that following OPPT guidelines led to his conviction and sentencing to 27 years in prison. Here: Read the DOJ press release.
